About Us

Sutton in Craven C of E (V.C.) Primary School provides an education for children between the ages of four to eleven. It is a Voluntary Controlled School and as such is maintained by North Yorkshire County Council Education Authority.

We are very proud of our school and our children. Our pride is matched only by our ambitions for the children and the school.

We strive for excellence; that’s why we never take for granted what a great school we have. We’re sure you will feel the same. We are a small and caring school with traditional values and we are passionate about learning.

We are a Christian School serving the whole community

Our Priority

 Always Putting Children First

We want Sutton-in-Craven C of E Primary School to be the first choice locally for your child. We work hard to develop children who are equipped with a range of academic knowledge and skills.

However we also have a responsibility to nurture children with care, patience and understanding so that they also develop these attributes. With this approach we aim to produce independent thinking, confident and compassionate children. Being a small school, our dedicated staff know all the children well.

First and foremost children need to feel safe, secure and happy in school, if they are to be successful learners.

We aim to provide the ideal environment in which children can succeed. This means year on year investment in our facilities and ensuring we stay abreast of developments in education and the wider world.

Sutton in Craven CE Primary is a Church of England school serving the whole community.

Our Vision

We create a nurturing environment where children and staff can flourish and fulfil their potential. Our children are encouraged to develop a lifelong passion for learning, drawing inspiration from positive role models and the Christian faith. The school community collaboratively provides equal opportunities for everyone to develop as well-rounded individuals.

Our Aims

 - To provide a safe, secure, caring and stimulating environment which fosters the development of all through support and challenge.

- To promote a positive attitude to learning with an emphasis on self-respect and respect for others, resilience, co-operation and self-confidence.

- To provide high quality teaching and learning which is purposeful, enjoyable and accessible, enabling each individual to make good progress.

- To promote Christian Values and British Values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance) in all areas of school life.

- To have consistently high expectations of all members of the school community.

- To work in partnership with parents, governors and the wider community to ensure the best outcomes for each individual and prepare them for life.

- To provide access to high quality continuing professional development for all members of the school community in order to maximise their potential.
